What would the most vibrant, excited, energetic and FUN & LAUGHTER version of you be doing?
Would that version of you ALWAYS feel like you were in ‘flow’? Do you even believe that is possible?
Would that version of you be feeling good about what you have been able to achieve on a consistent basis?
Would that version of you have the discipline to take small, baby steps each day towards your goals?
Would that version of you just commit to getting it done, no matter what it takes?
When was the last time you thought about your ‘Why’?
I was recently challenged to look at why I do what I do. It was an enlightening process as I truly believe that unless we are re-connecting with this part of ourselves regularly it is so easy to lose focus and take our eye off the ultimate prize of fulfilment.
This is what I came up with…
I do what I do because I receive the incredible reward of watching people develop the ability to PLAY the piano. That is such a big GIFT for me. I love seeing all the commitment and effort students put in pay off in dividends for them. There is absolutely no point in doing this program unless you are committed to a daily routine.
My BIGGEST why is that through music we are able to learn how to communicate our story with each other. Our joys, our sadness, our love, our individual spirits, our sense of self, our unique identity and our experience of just being us.
There is nothing better than watching a student come into class after putting the work in at home and play a piece from start to finish, from memory, with no need for his music anymore. They are no longer tied to the page relying on black dots to tell them what to do next. That is surely what a musical life is about.
