What if one small change could give you back your energy, your focus… and maybe even your future musical self? I broke my record at the gym last week. A few years ago I committed to working with a personal trainer. I was determined to rehabilitate after suffering a spinal cord cyst, during my third pregnancy, that was slowly eroding away my spinal cord and required surgery! I’ve written about that experience here https://jocenko.com.au/perfectionism-sux/

When I first started at the gym, I was lucky if I could row 350 metres in two minutes. Over time I have broken that record several times, but none felt better than last Friday when I smashed out 433 metres in two minutes. Why did this feel so good? Well, I have recently been using a CPAP machine after being diagnosed with severe sleep apnoea (thank you menopause!) To say it has been life altering would be a massive understatement. The extra energy I now have to put into each day is astounding and I am not exaggerating when I say I feel like a completely different person. Now, is it a little embarrassing to admit I was lifting the roof off the house with my snoring? Yes! Of course it is. Also embarrassing that my husband was struggling to sleep despite using industrial level ear plugs? Yes!!

HOWEVER, if my experience can help change even one person’s quality of life by booking in for a simple sleep study, if they feel they are dragging their body through the day, then I’m happy to feel a little self-conscious sharing this with you.

So beating my record on the rowing machine wasn’t just about achieving yet another ‘PB’. It was about all the possibilities of improvement moving forward as I’m now equipped with all the benefits of an incredibly healthy night’s sleep after the very simple investment in a CPAP machine.

Sometimes, in order to move the needle, we don’t necessarily need everything to change at once – one simple little tweak can be like pulling a thread and untangling the most complex of problems and issues, creating a clear pathway ahead.

That’s what I feel we are doing in my brand-new Ultimate Piano Accelerator experience. This is our second week of meeting every weekday morning at 7am (yes 7am! Not all sessions will be at this time haha) doing a workout focusing on chords and beautiful chord voicing to mention just a couple of aspects.

There is no point just sitting around dreaming about playing the piano –

It takes work

It takes commitment

It takes conviction

It takes dedication

That goes without saying, it’s the same as developing any skill

BUT

I can give you the secret sauce, the tweak, the simple adjustment that will recalibrate everything for you. I can show you a simple way to play 144 chords and you only have to remember twelve steps. I can hold your hand so it doesn’t feel hard anymore because this alternative system walks you through a simple process that may very well have people turn heads when you play. That’s right, impressive sounding music from your very first lessons.

Sometimes that one thing, that one change, that one little tiny tweak and fine tuning is all you need to finally start kicking some goals and spend time with your piano each day, for the remainder of your life, enjoying each other’s company as life time companions. That’s right your piano wants you back. Are you willing?
