The calendar has turned over to a brand new, shiny, sparkly new year. What are your intentions? What are you going to do with it? Repeat your outcomes from last year or get on with setting some new goals? Tomorrow never comes so what is the one thing you can do today to move the needle forward and ‘set the tone’ for 2021?

Are you going to continue to allow yourself to be controlled by what other people think you ‘should’ do? You do know that you are free to choose? Free to choose regardless of what anyone else thinks you should do? You may hold that person in the highest regard but at the end of the day how can they really understand how deeply you want what you want.

Isn’t it high time you placed your confidence to make the right decision in yourself?

After all, you are the only one who knows the depth of this desire. You are the only one who can actually make it happen. No-one else can do your push-ups for you so you certainly can’t pass this off to someone else to do.

It’s purely up to you.

What has been niggling in the back of your mind for the past twelve months? What do you keep burying and not acknowledging, therefore remaining stagnant? A river needs to flow if it’s never to be the same twice. Just because you were offered an opportunity yesterday doesn’t mean it will be available tomorrow.

Sometimes you just need to grab the chance to progress with both hands outstretched and shout

“Yes, me.”

“I’ll take it” and

“I’ll take it now.” and

“I’m prepared to do the work required to get the results I pine for.”

It is available to you.

It is possible for you.

It is NOT too late for you.

It is something that is not going away.

That voice will probably keep whispering louder and louder until you pay it attention.

There’s a reason the thought comes to your mind and won’t go away. Once again, no-one can possibly know where it will eventually lead.

I was a little bit blown away in a lesson yesterday by a student who has just completed the Music on Steroids program. She had set herself the goal of booking into lessons at the beginning of last year and finally contacted me in November!!! She is a determined soul and after enrolling into the final round of the program for the year, buckled down, committed and did absolutely everything I asked her to do. Well, yesterday she accompanied herself singing Cat Steven’s song ‘Father and Son’. She was quite thrilled with this accomplishment and said she didn’t expect she would be able to do something like that after just five weeks. Her husband plays guitar and they have been having a great time playing together and enjoying quite a few laughs.

Perhaps you want to play music with a family member as well.

Perhaps you want to surprise someone with what you can do after just a few lessons.

Perhaps you are wanting something

JUST.FOR.YOU

Whatever the reason it is perfectly valid. At some stage, you need to take the next step. Tony Robbins talks about how the key to happiness is a sense of progress.

Stop looking in the rear vision mirror and regretting not doing it when you were younger. You only have today, now, the present moment to work with. There is absolutely nothing you can do about the past. Don’t allow yourself to continue living in that swamp of regrets (That’s a good name for a song don’t you think?) for one minute longer.

It’s time to make your move.

Will it happen overnight?

Of course not!

Will it happen?

Yes, as long as you don’t give up and make it a consistent part of your daily routine.

Admit it. You LOVE the idea of sitting down at your keyboard and playing impressive sounding music. You are interested in the theory and also imagine yourself with a large repertoire of music from different genres.

You are willing to wait to return to looking at the sheet music and happy to spend time building out this repertoire entirely from memory.

You know it may well be good, healthy nutrition for your brain.

You know it may well keep you feeling younger.

You know it will light you up.

You know others may well be impressed you can play so much so quickly

You know it’s the right thing for YOU.

You know it’s the exact right time – today – now.

You know you can afford it no matter what it takes.

You know you don’t have to ask anyone’s permission, it’s purely YOUR decision.

You know you can’t resist taking that next step any longer.

So,
