My daughter informed me she would like to create a collage on her wall from pictures of old magazines she had hanging around. She has always been quite creative and I was more than happy for her to go ahead. In fact, I was really interested in what she would create. For some reason, my expectation was that it would be something less than a square metre in size.

I will admit I was a little taken aback when I first saw it but I guess when the creative urge strikes you just go with it. I really love it. I also love that she has put her own stamp on her own space.

I guess that’s what happens when you foster creativity in your household : )

I also strongly encourage students to create their own music as part of their lessons here at Rhythm and Tunes Piano Studio. I was VERY excited just last week when a teenage student brought in a song she had written from scratch starting with a blank piece of manuscript paper. When this happens it feels like we have come full circle. Not only can students read, decode and memorise music, but they can also write music! It is an absolutely GORGEOUS piece that has been created from her very own unique musical essence.

We need space to create.
We need emptiness to create.
We need time to create.
We need love to create.
We need attention to create.
We need attentiveness to create.
We need spirit-filled awareness to create.
We need affirmations to create.
We need encouragement to create.
We need the courage to create.

Creation is our brief.

In my very humble opinion, we are created to CREATE.

What are you in the process of creating? I would love to know what your experience is of making something from nothing. How does it feel? What are the rewards for you?
