“This is more than ‘just piano’ ” a student commented to me the other day, about her lessons. This isn’t the first time I’ve heard this comment. Music creates connections between people the world over because it elicits such deep emotions in us.
When people resonate with my stories and share their experiences with me in return, I am extremely humbled and consider myself privileged to be in this position of trust.
I have written to you a few times about my adoption story.
Well, in the same way, I often talk to you about that niggling voice inside your head calling you back to your music, I am experiencing that same voice with regard to creating a space for other adoptees to connect. It is my intention to create a place to dialogue where we accompany each other on a journey back to the self we were when we were born. That self before all the layers of expectation of living under a new identity were placed upon us.
