My adult students commenced a 30-day challenge last week. It involves playing their repertoire of all different styles of music for at least 10 minutes per day. Don’t tell them but I’m secretly hoping that 10 minutes will turn into 20 and 20 minutes will turn into 40 and well, you get the picture.

How many times have you not felt like starting something but as soon as you make yourself do it, it gets done in no time at all. Practising piano can be similar. We know we’re going to love it, we know it’s going to fill us up, we know it’s going to be FUN but still, we procrastinate.

Not my students!

Well, not for the next 30 days anyway. I have promised to shout them a coffee when they complete the challenge. They have all been diligently posting their ticked off playlists each day and I love seeing them encourage each other in our Facebook group. For myself, I know that once I sit down to play I won’t want to stop and it feels like such a luxury, even though it’s my job!

Are you procrastinating?

Have you been thinking about reaching out to inquire how you can be part of this really lovely community who are so supportive of each other and have similar musical backgrounds?

Are you really going to keep making excuses that you’re too old or it’s too late or your too busy or blah, blah, blah…

My guess is, if you don’t do something about it now you will still be yearning to re-connect with your music in one year’s time until you take that next best BRAVE step.

I know it’s not easy.

I know it’s a bit scary after all this time.

You don’t know how it’s going to work because this is such a different methodology, and you have to trust the process, but that burning desire is there for a reason.

How much longer can you really ignore it?
